The Trip
The ride over seemed to last forever. I have never been on a bus or any vehicle for 8 hours straight, but I enjoy long trips so it wasn't that bad. During the trip, I mostly just slept, talked, played guitar, or watched movies that some of the other team members brought. Someone brought Scary Movie 3, but we didn't watch that much of it because the parents thought it wasn't appropriate lol. There was absolutely NO scenery along the way, which made it really boring. But, I managed to sleep most of the way.
8 hours passed, and we were starting to enter Lubbock. The closer we got, we began to see small piles of what looked like snow. More and more of these piles passed by, and we realized that it was snow! For the first time in my life I saw snow! After the short burst of excitement, we finall arrived at the gym where the competition was held. We went there first so that the drivers list could be turned in, the drivers could get their wrist bands, and so we could get a team picture. After hanging there for a while, we went back to the bus and went to Whataburger to eat (we became very familiar with this place because this is where we always went when we were hungry lol). After some of us ate, we went outside and scared Mr. Conner by throwing a huge ball of ice at his window haha, good times. We departed from Whataburger, and went to our hotel, the Holiday Inn. We got off the bus, gathered our bags, and walked in the building.
We waited for Mr. DelaCruz to check in, and then we started searching for our rooms. They assigned every four of us to a room to compensate for budget, but we didn't stay with the groups they assigned us to lol. I stayed with Mike, Jeff, and Richter (who got traded).
